Book Review Journal - Review
We are all avid readers in our house and it can be difficult to keep track of just how many books the kiddies are reading, making sure they can comprehend the meaning as they become more independent readers. In the past they have written a list either in a notepad or on their own blog, but for some reason they forget to keep logging each book or they find the task too laborious. So this week we have been trying out this Book Review Journal by Home Educating mother of six, Shahooda Khanom.
'Today a mother of six, Shoohada lives a busy life, splitting her days between home educating her children and her motherly responsibilities. She shares her home in Bolton with her family, and anytime she has a moment to herself, she reads and writes.'
This Book Review Journal is simple to use and features 115 pages to keep track of the books they read. There's space to write the author, title, genre, start date, finish date, characters, plot, new words, memorable quotes and other thoughts. It also includes pages to write a wish list of books they intend to read in the near future!
As soon as I received this new Book Review Journal I was so impressed with it! It's printed on high quality paper, the front cover is delightfully illustrated and the price is perfect!
It is exactly what I have needed for a long time. Not only does it provide a new writing opportunity to get the boys thinking about the books they have read and keeps track of them, but it also keeps a log of all the new words they learn whilst reading. I can then give each of them spelling tests based on these new words and they can also create new sentences of their own during their Literacy lessons. The size is great too! Not too big or too small but just the right size at 17.8 x 0.7 x 25.4 cm.
So what do the boys think?
They are certainly more keen to write their book reviews now they have a fun, bright journal. In fact, DS12 wanted to get stuck in and write up all the books he's ever read! I think we need to purchase a few more very soon! They love the design and the fact that they write their review in what looks like a pile of books on each page. Check out our sneak peek inside the journal over on Instagram here.
This Book Review Journal is available in different designs here on Amazon. There is also a Reading Journal available here too.
Check out some of the other designs. Which is your favourite? ;)
