Activities from favourite stories!

After choosing and reading favourite story books from our local library I always feel inspired to think up a great follow on activity for DD3. It gives her the opportunity to further her understanding of the story and enjoy an activity following the same theme. These type of play possibilities cover a number of areas of learning development such as language and communication, role-play and drama, literacy and more.

It's quite simple really, just choose a favourite book, enjoy reading it with your little one, then bring it to life with props such as finger puppets or make you own craft on that theme.

If you have more time to plan and prepare, you could go all out and make your own story sack with various props or even paint your own story stones in order retell the story or allow them to make up their own version.
