Home Ed Q&A

Hey my name is Tahmeena, I have 2 girls called Ruqayah (5) and Fatimah (2). I share our journey on Instagram, our page is called rainbow_play2

When and why did you decide to Home Educate?

- My eldest Ruqayah started reception full time this year. She went for 3 weeks before we took her out, we felt she was too young to be spending so much time away from home.

What kind of approach do you take?

- Because the girls are young at the moment our focus is play...but Ruqayah does ask to do work books so we do maximum 15 mins a day working through a workbook or just free writing.

Where do the children do most of their work? and do they distract each other?

- Most activities take place in my kitchen because its the easiest place to clean hehe. Yes there distraction with a toddler around so we tend to do work books whilst Fatimah has a nap

What is your favourite thing about Home Education?

- Having the freedom and also exploring Ruqayahs interests further. As we have experienced school life …

Fab free worksheets - used these for years!!

New tutor-free IGCSE options from just £99, and a winter discount on Key Stage 3 Science courses
We've had a number of parents contact us in the last few months who have felt confident enough with the subject material that they didn't require the tutor support we provide with our IGCSE courses. However they still needed a systematic way of approaching the IGCSEs that assured them they were covering everything they needed to, and put all the lesson plans and content in one place for their children to work through.

At the same time we've been busy updating our IGCSE courses to the new exam specifications and curricula. So we've taken advantage of that to create a new option for our CIE and Edexcel IGCSE science courses - the ability to buy them without tutor support from just £99. To enable this we've written an additional PDF for each course with all the answers to the questions to the marked assignments, so that you can check the work yourself.

This is a bit of a t…

Home Ed with Paperbarkkid Q&A

Thanks to Paperbarkkid for taking part in this question and answer session :) When and why did you decide to Home Educate?

I thought about homeschooling when my son was in pre-school, but it took me until he reached mid year in Grade One to finally take that step and home educate. He had a lovely teacher who was completely supportive of my decision to homeschool.

What kind of approach do you take?

I use an eclectic approach. My son is passionate about many things, and learns in a variety of ways, so using an eclectic approach allows me to work with where he is at in that moment. He mostly enjoys learning through art, writing, and nature.

Where do the children do most of their work? and do they distract each other?

I created a natural and calming room for my children to come to when they want to. They can also go outside and learn in our nature space, or use the dining area on the deck. I like to give them different places to choose from to suit where they feel like learning that day. My y…
