RHS Campaign for school gardening

After clearing the garden leaves and hanging bird feeders in the hedge, the kiddies started discussing their plans for the garden next Spring. They decided where to plant flowers, vegetables and designated a place to make a compost heap. They learnt about garden hazards and washing their hands after they finished. We have now applied for our Level 1 School gardening award!

Giving children the chance to grow their own flowers and vegetables creates fond early memories of gardening. Getting them interested in gardening from such an early age instils a love of gardening and a great hobby they will use for the rest of their lives. My children love practical science lessons like this in the garden learning about different topics along the way such was identifying Minibeasts, properties of materials etc.
