Date Loaf recipe from our Instagram page

180g chopped dates (remove stones)
200g dark brown soft sugar
55g butter or margarine
250ml boiling water
220g self-raising flour
1 tps bicarbonate soda
2 tps vanilla extract

Preheat oven Gas Mark 6 / Grease and flour a 23x13cm loaf tin/oven dish

Combine dates, brown sugar, margarine and boiling water in a large bowl and let it stand for 15 minutes.

Sift in flour, bicarb  & vanilla

Mix together and pour into greased tin.

Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes! 
Then allow to cool completely.
